Designed by acclaimed Chicago architecture firm Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill LLP, Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago is the twelfth tallest skyscraper in the world at 92 stories with more than 2.6 million square feet of floor space, and topping off at 1,398 feet tall. It is the second tallest building in the United States and home to the nation's highest residences above ground level. Its location in the curve of the main branch of the Chicago River creates panoramic views of the city and across DuSable Harbor into glistening Lake Michigan.

The stainless steel and low-emissive glass exterior of the building is designed for both beauty and function, improving thermal efficiency and creating floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall views from within the building's 486 condominium residences, 339 hotel rooms, and 20,000 square feet of function space. Adjacent to the Magnificent Mile, a serene 1.2 acre public riverwalk connects the Wrigley Building breezeway with Wabash Avenue and incorporates 28 retail storefronts and a pristine reflective lilly pond.

Expressing truly modern architecture, the building creates a dramatic union of elements similar to those which comprise the surrounding landmark buildings. To further amplify Chicago's timeless skyline, the three tiers of the building are arranged with setbacks at the heights of neighboring properties. The curves of the building and the strategic setbacks also serve to minimize and redistribute Chicago wind, successfully moderating a challenge that has become notoriously affiliated with the city.
